Orlando, FL (PRWEB) February 6, 2008

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, Global Resort Homes is offering the perfect gift for the man, or men in your life. Whether surprising him with a trip for two, or sending him away on a “mancation” with his golf buddies, an Orlando golf package will no doubt, be the gift that hits a hole in one.

Golf getaways are popping up all throughout the South this time of year. As a wonderful opportunity to get away with the guys, or escape with that special someone and enjoy luxurious surroundings and challenging golf, there’s no better way to tell him, “I love you” than with a weekend of shining blue skies and emerald greens.

Global Resort Homes is not only known for world-class accommodations, but for a premier location near the area’s top golf courses. Florida Golf Guide rated Mystic Dunes as one of the top five golf courses in Orlando. This 7,012 yard, par 71 golf course, designed by player and NBC analyst Gary Koch, is a picturesque course carved from rolling orange groves and native wetlands. While the front nine holes are reminiscent of classic Carolina courses, meandering through wetlands and marsh, the back nine offer a true Scottish links-style experience, complete with large pot bunkers and expansive waste areas, making for challenging, yet memorable Orlando golf vacation packages.

Just minutes from Mystic Dunes Golf Club, sits Oakwater and Windsor Palms, both brand-new family luxury resorts boast stunning gated communities of everything from cozy condos and townhomes, to luxurious six-bedroom houses. Both Oakwater and Windsor Palms are tropically-inspired destinations for anyone looking for a true resort feel, with the added comfort of private lodging. Designed with couples, families and larger groups in mind, Oakwater and Windsor Palms are the perfect destinations for a “Guys Only” vacation or a golf getaway with your favorite playing partner. Complete with accommodations suitable for two or twenty, both are thoroughly designed with guests’ comfort and convenience in mind. For a limited time, Oakwater is featuring an unbeatable $ 79 per night stay, perfect for quick getaways that won’t break the bank.

Located only 2.5 miles from Walt Disney World, Oakwater and Windsor Palms are conveniently positioned near the local attractions guests want to see. For those looking to simply getaway and relax, their clubhouses feature expansive lagoon-style community pools, complete with waterslides and hot tubs. Rest and rejuvenate from months spent in chillier climates, under sunny skies, lounging by crystal blue down South.

Each Orlando golf vacation home has a private screened swimming pool and spa, while all townhomes feature a small private pool. Designed for guests looking for privacy and seclusion, these options also offer fully equipped kitchens with breakfast and formal dining areas, TVs, VCR and DVD players, washer and dryer. Homes are also available with game rooms that include billiards, table tennis, air hockey and Sony Play Stations.

There is no doubt about it, Global Resort Homes is making it easy to please the golf lovers in your life. So, call now, and book this year’s great golf getaway, just in time for Valentine’s Day…he’ll be glad you did.

Orlando-Area Resort to Award $10,000 Treasure; Guests to Compete in Summer-Long Treasure Hunt Challenge

Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) April 1, 2008

Those who seek Florida’s fabled lost treasures shall look no further than Orlando, where Gaylord Palms Resort is giving summer visitors an opportunity to compete for a grand-prize treasure of $ 10,000 in cold cash. This interactive experience, called Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge, will be available May 2 through Aug. 28, 2008.

Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge is a contest of skill that gives package guests an opportunity to act and think like pirates and treasure seekers as they earn points while traversing the resort and deciphering clues, solving intricate puzzles, and performing other “piratey” tasks. At the end of the summer, the team that accumulates the greatest number of points during their stay will be awarded the $ 10,000 prize. The second-place team will win a $ 3,500 cash prize and the third-place team will be awarded a three-night stay at a Gaylord hotel.

The Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge is intended for groups of adults or families. Some tasks are appropriate for family members to tackle together, while others will challenge even the most creative of adults.

In addition, children ages 10 and under can participate in Little Pirates Treasure Hunt, a fun activity designed just for them. The hunt includes totally kid-friendly clues and a small prize for those who complete the adventure.

The Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge experience unfolds over two days, and can easily be combined with visits to Orlando’s world-famous theme parks and attractions.

Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge room packages start at $ 219 per night plus tax and parking. The package, which must be purchased for a minimum of two nights, includes Florida-view accommodations, one registration to compete in the Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge, participation in the Little Pirates Treasure Hunt (for children ages 10 and under) and an official Treasure Seekers Log Book. In addition, the package includes the following “resort fee” amenities: complimentary scheduled shuttle service to Walt Disney World theme parks; daily newspaper; fitness center access; wireless and high-speed Internet access in guestroom; and two bottles of Dasani water delivered daily to guest room refrigerator.

“This is not your ordinary summer resort experience,” said Kemp Gallineau, general manager. “But then again, we’re not your ordinary Florida resort, either.”

To make a reservation, or to receive more information about Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge, call 407-586-HUNT, or visit http://www.SummerTreasureHuntChallenge.com. For official rules, guests can visit http://www.SummerTreasureHuntChallenge.com/rules.

The Thrill of the Hunt

Pirates and their quest for hidden treasure have been recurring themes in popular culture. But due to the success of Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie franchise, these swashbucklers have enjoyed newfound popularity. Since the original installment debuted in 2003, interest in pirates has catapulted.

In addition, hit reality television shows like “Survivor,” “Road Rules,” “Kid Nation” and “Amazing Race” and movies like “National Treasure” have increased the appeal of scavenger hunts to the family audience.

“Activities such as the Gaylord Palms Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge are the natural progression of these trends,” said Gallineau. “We are giving families a safe and controlled way to put themselves in the middle of the action while competing for their own treasure – just as they have seen on television or in the movies.”

Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge is part of Best of Florida LIVE!, an ongoing Gaylord Palms exhibition that celebrates the history, events, creatures and habitats of the Sunshine State. Because Spain used the state as a staging area for convoys, pirates played a noteworthy role in Florida past. These pirates preyed upon the treasure-rich Spanish fleets that sailed the waters near Florida. In fact, the state is home to the popular Gasparilla Pirate Fest in Tampa, a long-running festival that celebrates these infamous visitors.

WOW! What a Summer

Don’t count on a normal Florida weekend at the beach! Visitors to Gaylord Palms this summer (including summer holidays – Memorial Day, 4th of July, Independence Day Weekend, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and even Flag Day) will also have a chance to experience all that is new at the resort, including the colorful Clearwater Cove water activities playground, Coquina Dunes executive putting course, and the trendy SORA sushi bar.

Gaylord Palms Resort features a soaring 4.5-acre glass-covered atrium that celebrates the best of Florida, including the destinations of St. Augustine, Key West, and the Everglades. Inside the atriums, guests encounter live alligators and other native creatures, enjoy amazing landscapes, visit innovative shops, dine at award-winning restaurants and participate in on-site entertainment.

In addition, complimentary shuttle service is offered to Orlando’s world-famous theme parks and attractions, where guests will find plenty to do this summer:

– Universal Orlando Resort will showcase “The Simpsons” in a new simulator ride experience.

– At Walt Disney World, the newly renamed Disney’s Hollywood Studios will debut Toy Story Mania!, a 3-D ride; “Block Party Bash,” an interactive new Disney parade; and “Playhouse Disney-Live on Stage!,” with a whole new cast.

– SeaWorld Orlando is home to a brand-new state-of-the-thrill water park, Aquatica

– Epcot is featuring a new gallery exhibition, “National Treasures.” Three dozen artifacts from American history are on display in the American Heritage Gallery of the American Adventure pavilion, including items from Mark Twain, Benjamin Franklin and George Washington Carver.

A Healthy Spin on the Bachelorette Party, Orlando-Area Resort Offers “Boot Camp for Brides”

Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) May 14, 2008

Suddenly, ‘Bridezilla’ has gone Old School. Today’s brides are finding healthier ways to channel their pre-nuptial stress-level, with such programs as Boot Camp for Brides Challenge, the newest experiential offering of Gaylord Palms Resort, and part of its successful Good Girls Bachelorette Getaways program, launched last year.

Gaylord Palms Resort has put a practical spin on the bachelorette party by taking this popular tradition from a night of gluttonous chaos to a customized weekend getaway for bride and friends. The Good Girls Bachelorette Getaway gives the bride the opportunity to choose from an extensive list of experiences to enjoy with her friends.

As wedding bells count down for the stressed bride-to-be, Boot Camp for Brides experiences are designed to fit within the weekend of festivities, including:

o Fit for a Bride: A 90-minute consultation giving the bride an opportunity to develop a personal plan that includes fat-burning cardio and strength-training regiments to target areas of the body so that bride or bridesmaid can fit into her special gown.

o Bridal Meditation: A 60-minute class that teaches the bride how to meditate wedding stress away at any point during the wedding planning process, whether she’s on her way to a dress fitting or getting ready to walk down the aisle.

o Nutritional Engagement: A 60-minute consultation that focuses on a custom nutrition plan best suited for the bride (or bridesmaids) by identifying proper eating tips to expedite a healthy transition from engagement day to wedding day.

With experiences such as these, administered by the staff of the Canyon Ranch SpaClub Fitness Center located at Gaylord Palms Resort, the bachelorette party can be a source of positive stress release. Additional experiences such as private skin consultations and in-suite fitness classes can leave a bride feeling buff, beautiful and confident that she is on a healthier path.

“We’re not taking credit for inventing the Bachelorette Getaway, but we would like to think that we’ve reinvented the experience to the benefit of stressed-out brides,” says Amy Grimes, Experience Coordinator for Gaylord Palms Resort. “Even after her plans are finalized, the one thing the bride often stresses about is feeling and looking good on her wedding day. Many brides set unrealistic goals, which can lead them down an unhealthy wedding aisle.”

The Bachelorette party comes at a crucial time during the planning process. A recent study published in the journal Appetite followed the diet patterns of 272 engaged women, and found that more than 70 percent of these brides were trying to lose on average 20+ pounds in a six month timeframe. The study also found that 20 percent of the women used “extreme” methods of losing weight, to include skipping meals, going on liquid diets, and even taking laxatives or making themselves sick.

The Gaylord Palms’ “Boot Camp” program focuses on realistic goal-setting for the bride, and most importantly, is something she can experience with her supportive friends. “We’re not taking the fun out of the bachelorette party,” continued Grimes. “In fact, we still encourage the bride to have a crazy good time. We’re just offering the bride a chance to carve out part of the weekend to focus on herself – as well as her health – before the big day.”

Orlando continues to grow as a destination for weddings, honeymoons, and wedding-related activities, such as bachelor and bachelorette parties. The number of weddings held in Orlando exploded in 1991 when Walt Disney World launched its Fairy Tale Weddings service.

Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center Honored with Elusive Gold Elite ‘Double Crown’

Kissimmee, FL (Vocus) August 6, 2008

Gaylord Palms has received the “Double Crown” of meetings industry awards.

Meetings and Conventions magazine has announced that Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla. is the winner of its two highest honors for 2008: Gold Platter Elite and Gold Key Elite Awards.

The annual awards, established to define the “best of the best,” honors the top meetings property (Gold Key Elite) and catering department (Gold Platter Elite) based on overall professionalism and quality, as well as excellence displayed in creativity and culinary experience. In earning their ‘Elite’ status, winning properties were not only voted as one of the finest experienced by M&C readers, but these outstanding hotels and catering departments finished among the top five overall worldwide in each category – as measured by total votes cast by the industry.

Basing their selections on the overall quality, M&C selected these Gold Key Elite and Gold Platter Elite properties as the finest they’ve experienced for 2008. This year, 199 hotels and resorts were honored as Gold Key winners, and a total of 30 domestic and international properties were honored as Gold Platter winners. In each category, only five achieved the ‘Elite’ level.

M&C readers, representing the highest level of meeting and incentive professionals, based their selections on strict criteria which included: enthusiasm and professionalism of staff; quality of food presentation; creativity of menu; originality of theme-party concepts; helpfulness and budgeting considerations; excellence of staff service and ambiance of dining rooms. In addition, the resort was judged on: staff attitude; quality of meeting rooms; quality of guest services; quality of food and beverage service; proficiency of handling reservations; technical/support equipment, and range of recreational facilities.

“By exceeding the levels of excellence set by their peers, the Gold Elite properties greatly impressed M&C’s readers and gained the votes of the industry’s most important critics,” states Bernard W. Schraer, Meetings & Conventions Group Publisher. “Knowing the overall success of an event may rely on the quality of service provided, these exceptional properties consistently rose to the occasion. The M&C staff proudly applauds the properties that have demonstrated the qualities required to achieve the Gold Elite status.”

Gaylord Palms Resort has earned the Gold Key Award every year since 2003. The resort was honored with the Gold Key Elite and Gold Platter Elite designations in 2004 and 2007 respectively.

Gaylord Palms Resort has been honored in 2008 with several prestigious meetings industry awards, including the Medical Meetings Merit & Distinction Award, Corporate Meetings & Incentives Paragon Award, Successful Meetings Pinnacle Award, and Association Meetings Inner Circle Award.

The resort will be featured in Meetings and Conventions’ Gold Awards issue, published this November.
