Frugality Nation Foundation Promotes Financial Literacy at the 72nd Annual National Foundation for Women Legislators Conference

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) December 3, 2010

The most prominent and influential female legislators from across the nation came together November 18-22, 2010 in Orlando, Florida for the 72nd Annual National Foundation for Women Legislators conference. During the conference, legislators and issue specialists discussed and developed strategies regarding the highest priority public policy issues facing American society. Among the issues visited were financial literacy and the financial strength of the average American household.

Speaking directly to the heart of the issue was Malia Chapman, Executive Director of the Frugality Nation Foundation, a national non-profit foundation based in Irvine, CA. Chapman is a passionate advocate for financial literacy. She has observed firsthand how basic financial knowledge, awareness and consciousness can significantly affect an individual or family’s relationship with money and overall lifestyle. Frugality Nation is helping lead the initiative to build a national movement focused on empowering Americans with the financial know-how needed to navigate through today’s complex maze of financial jargon and the pressures of consumerism.

Chapman addressed the delegation of nearly 300 legislators and policy experts on the importance of financial literacy, explaining that, “if we can empower families to make smarter, more frugal choices, we will navigate our way back to economic stability and a stronger, healthier workforce.” Chapman described how Frugality Nation uses innovative platforms, including community seminars and individual mentoring programs, to educate and help American middle class families, “explore and transform their relationship with money.”

Joining Chapman to speak on financial literacy were Congressman Jesse L. Jackson Jr. (IL), Christine Romans, host of CNN’s Your $ $ $ $ $ , David Walker, President & CEO of Comback America, and Jenna Keehnen, the executive director of USOBA. The combination of speakers helped paint the broad picture surrounding the issue. Promoting sound financial literacy practices will encourage people to engage in smart spending, resulting in an upwards economy. Responsible spending and money management in individual households directly influences the health of the nation’s financial system.

Joanne Garneau, founder of Frugality Nation and CEO of Nationwide Support Services, is excited to see financial literacy on the national agenda, saying, “The fact that the NFWL has recognized the emerging national movement towards financial literacy is a strong start towards addressing this systemic problem.” Garneau, Chapman, and Frugality Nation will continue to foster this movement, raising awareness about the local, state and national implications of financial literacy in the American household.

Orlando, FL (Vocus/PRWEB) December 09, 2010

NOVACES, a management consulting firm that provides Lean Six Sigma and performance improvement services to healthcare organizations, announced today that it is promoting a series of webinars that provide insights into how to implement process improvement in healthcare at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) 22nd Annual National Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care.

This year’s forum, with over 5,000 attendees, had a theme of “Taking Care” and was held at the World Marriott Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Maureen Bisognano, IHI’s new CEO who took over this year after Don Berwick finished his twenty-year tenure since the organization’s founding, introduced the IHI strategy called Triple Aim during her keynote.

The IHI Triple Aim, according to Ms. Bisognano, emphasizes that new designs must be developed simultaneously to improve the health of the population, enhance the patient care experience, and reduce or control the per capita cost of care.

The webinar series promoted by NOVACES at the IHI Forum supports the Triple Aim and teaches participants about the tools and methods that facilitate the design of new clinical and administrative processes that healthcare organizations can implement to help meet the challenges of providing higher quality care at lower costs to an aging U.S. population.

The first of the performance improvement webinars offered by NOVACES is “Physician Perspectives on Performance Improvement” and aims at helping healthcare organizations understand how physicians perceive process improvement and how to improve their level of engagement in projects that require their support and their knowledge to create positive and lasting changes to processes. It is scheduled for December 13 at 1 PM EST and registration information can be found at novaces.com/webinars.

The next webinar is offered on December 14 at 1 PM EST is “Taking Lean to the Next Level: A Hospital Case Study.” This session will focus on how a hospital engaged in a rapid planning process for the deployment of process improvement tools and methods throughout the facility. It includes examples of the initial improvement projects that produced both clinical and financial benefits. Registration information can also be found at novaces.com/webinars.

The final webinar in the series on December 16 at 1 PM EST is “Medication Reconciliation: One Big Pill To Swallow” and is a case study presentation that provides insights on how a hospital was able to reduce medication reconciliation errors from 60% to 13%, using Lean Six Sigma process improvement tools. Registration information can be found at novaces.com/webinars.

The IHI 22nd Annual National Forum on Quality Improvement in Healthcare wrapped up on December 8. As the event concluded, Vickie Kamataris, who is a nurse and healthcare process improvement expert for NOVACES commented, ”IHI represents the leading edge of innovation in healthcare. The keynote speakers discussed the core issues confronting healthcare and the keys to creating positive change. Echo-Factory Promotes New Upland Certified Farmers Market

Upland, CA (PRWEB) October 26, 2010

Echo-Factory has launched a cross-media advertising campaign promoting Upland’s brand new Certified Farmers Market.

“Most farmers markets don’t even have an advertising budget, much less retain an agency,” said Mike Schaffer, Echo-Factory co-founder and executive director. “But Upland sees this as an opportunity to promote not only the event, but to get the word out about town’s vibrant culture.”

Echo-Factory, which is headquartered in Rancho Cucamonga, has built a reputation for bringing a creative edge to projects. The company works in traditional advertising, public relations and new media, including search-engine optimization and social media marketing. The agency recently won the overall “Best of Show” award at the 2010 Inland Empire ADDY awards.

In undertaking this latest campaign, one of Echo-Factory’s major goals has been to make sure the public knows that the Upland Farmers market is a certified California Farmers market where shoppers can buy produce directly from the grower.

Starting Oct. 30, the new farmers market will be held, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday mornings across the street from the Upland Metrolink Station. The market will be focused on promoting local farmers who grow fresh produce or make specialty food items.

Upland’s former downtown market, previously held on Thursday nights, was canceled in August when its organizer encountered financial woes.

“We want people to know that this will be one of the area’s premiere certified farmers markets. We’re hoping that families from Upland and our neighbor cities will come down on Saturday mornings and have a great time,” said Jeff Zwack, the city’s redevelopment director. “Echo-Factory helped us craft a campaign that’s really getting the word out.”

For the launch of the Farmers Market Echo-Factory has developed and deployed radio and print advertising supplemented with social media, including Yelp and Foursquare. This combination of traditional and new media is designed to reach a broad cross-section of potential Farmers Market visitors.

The campaign is focused on the most unique feature of the Upland Farmers Market, the ability to buy produce directly from the person who grew it. It invites consumers to come to the place where they can “high five a farmer,” and get answers to questions like, “where do tomatoes come from?”

“In the planning stages of this campaign, we were asked what would happen if someone actually went to the market and tried to give one of the growers a high five” Schaffer said. “I told them, ‘then we’ll know our campaign’s worked.’”

About Echo-Factory: Echo-Factory was launched in 2008 by two ad-industry veterans, Dea Goldsmith and Mike Schaffer. They formed a company – centered on creativity and a personal approach to projects – that brought advertising, marketing, design and photography under one roof. Echo-Factory, with offices in Rancho Cucamonga, has tripled in size in the last two years. Clients include Altura Credit Union in Riverside County, Kapco Aerospace in Brea, Allied Anesthesia in Orange County and lighting manufacturer Precision-Paragon [P2] in Yorba Linda.
