Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center Honored with Elusive Gold Elite ‘Double Crown’

Kissimmee, FL (Vocus) August 6, 2008

Gaylord Palms has received the “Double Crown” of meetings industry awards.

Meetings and Conventions magazine has announced that Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla. is the winner of its two highest honors for 2008: Gold Platter Elite and Gold Key Elite Awards.

The annual awards, established to define the “best of the best,” honors the top meetings property (Gold Key Elite) and catering department (Gold Platter Elite) based on overall professionalism and quality, as well as excellence displayed in creativity and culinary experience. In earning their ‘Elite’ status, winning properties were not only voted as one of the finest experienced by M&C readers, but these outstanding hotels and catering departments finished among the top five overall worldwide in each category – as measured by total votes cast by the industry.

Basing their selections on the overall quality, M&C selected these Gold Key Elite and Gold Platter Elite properties as the finest they’ve experienced for 2008. This year, 199 hotels and resorts were honored as Gold Key winners, and a total of 30 domestic and international properties were honored as Gold Platter winners. In each category, only five achieved the ‘Elite’ level.

M&C readers, representing the highest level of meeting and incentive professionals, based their selections on strict criteria which included: enthusiasm and professionalism of staff; quality of food presentation; creativity of menu; originality of theme-party concepts; helpfulness and budgeting considerations; excellence of staff service and ambiance of dining rooms. In addition, the resort was judged on: staff attitude; quality of meeting rooms; quality of guest services; quality of food and beverage service; proficiency of handling reservations; technical/support equipment, and range of recreational facilities.

“By exceeding the levels of excellence set by their peers, the Gold Elite properties greatly impressed M&C’s readers and gained the votes of the industry’s most important critics,” states Bernard W. Schraer, Meetings & Conventions Group Publisher. “Knowing the overall success of an event may rely on the quality of service provided, these exceptional properties consistently rose to the occasion. The M&C staff proudly applauds the properties that have demonstrated the qualities required to achieve the Gold Elite status.”

Gaylord Palms Resort has earned the Gold Key Award every year since 2003. The resort was honored with the Gold Key Elite and Gold Platter Elite designations in 2004 and 2007 respectively.

Gaylord Palms Resort has been honored in 2008 with several prestigious meetings industry awards, including the Medical Meetings Merit & Distinction Award, Corporate Meetings & Incentives Paragon Award, Successful Meetings Pinnacle Award, and Association Meetings Inner Circle Award.

The resort will be featured in Meetings and Conventions’ Gold Awards issue, published this November.

Gaylord Hotels? ?Rooms for Good? Program to Benefit Autism Society During Month of July

Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) June 14, 2011

Celebrating patriotism during the month of July is a familiar American pastime, and to many, that spirit is demonstrated by giving to a worthy cause. Gaylord Hotels is offering guests a special opportunity to give back while enjoying a summer getaway, and the funds raised will enhance the lives of those affected by autism. The Autism Society has been selected as the featured charity to benefit from the brand?s Rooms for Good co-operative marketing/fundraising program. During the month of July, all Gaylord Hotels properties will donate 10 percent of the Rooms for Good package rate to the Autism Society.

?Individuals with autism and their families come to the Autism Society, a network of more than 100 chapters nationwide, because we provide support, community and assistance to those navigating an often confusing spectrum of services and supports,? said Scott Badesch, interim president & CEO of the Autism Society. ?The Autism Society is grateful to Gaylord Hotels and its guests for their generosity and support, which will help us expand our services, programs and advocacy efforts to fulfill our mission of improving the lives of all affected by autism.?

Gaylord Hotels will also use its online advertising, public relations and social media platforms to help generate more awareness for the Autism Society.

?The response so far to our Rooms for Good program has been overwhelmingly positive,? said Amy Atkinson, vice president of leisure marketing and public relations, Gaylord Hotels. ?It?s been heartwarming to learn how many of our guests are personally committed to the charities with which we?ve been working, and how they are appreciative for another chance to be philanthropic, even while they are on vacation. The Autism Society is an important organization, and we hope this partnership helps them achieve their goals.?

The Rooms for Good program features a different charity each month. In addition to raising money for non-profit organizations, Gaylord Hotels also will aim to raise awareness of the cause through traditional marketing and social media efforts. Package rates start at $ 179* per couple/per night and include one-night accommodations and breakfast for two. This special rate will be offered to guests that stay at the hotel within a specific time frame.

Gaylord Hotels Launches New Website

Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) February 22, 2010

Gaylord Hotels is launching a new website today designed to immerse customers in the true Gaylord Hotels experience. Visitors to http://www.gaylordhotels.com will encounter an improved, engaging journey with an interactive platform designed to illustrate a stay at one of the brand’s four properties. In addition, the site provides comprehensive information for travelers about each of its four mega resorts, located in Nashville, Tenn., Kissimmee, Fla., National Harbor, Md., and Grapevine, Texas, as well as a suite of tools for meeting and conventions planners.

“When a guest enters any of our hotels for the first time, they have this awestruck ‘wow’ moment when they see our sweeping, glass-covered atriums and the grand architecture that greets them,” said Rich Maradik, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Gaylord Hotels. “And from the first interaction with one of our STARS at check-in, until one of our bellmen bids them a safe trip home, they continue to be delighted as they discover all of the amenities, services and special touches that make a visit to a Gaylord property unforgettable. Now, for the first time, the experience of our website is aligned with the experience of our brand.”

While the end product is a panorama of beautiful imagery, comprehensive information and user-friendly interactive features, the strategic thinking that went into developing the site reflects the data-driven, decision making orientation of Gaylord Hotels and the full use of technology to convey information. “We really dove into the profiles of our visitors, including not only who they are, but how they spend time on our site,” said Maradik. “The results in some areas were really eye-opening. For example, we learned that although a good portion of our business comes from large group meetings, only a small percentage of our site traffic (5 percent) were meeting and convention planners. The larger amount of http://www.gaylordhotels.com visitors (95 percent) are leisure visitors and meeting attendees, both of whom want to get a full sense of our offerings, but from a different perspective. So the new site does a wonderful job of speaking to the experience of being here, the amenities we offer and the sense of space and place that lives with guests well beyond their actual visit.”

With an eye toward reaching all audience segments, the new site also includes:

An “experience” toolbar, which allows guests to visualize each property’s unique features
Several 360 degree virtual tours of each property’s atriums, facilities and guest rooms
“Sunny G” hotspots, which are links throughout the imagery that elaborate on facilities within the properties
Easy-to-use booking function with instant confirmation
Meeting planners tool kit area, including: customizable attendance boosters, floor plan images, and an instant quote request form for each property
Interviews with Gaylord Hotels’ STARS
Video testimonials from Gaylord Hotels’ guests
Information on the latest package offers and events
Detailed information on nearby attractions and dining options
Cutting-edge technologies were used to capture the stunning images that reflect the epic, grand scale of each property. A number of bold techniques were used to shoot the video, including the use of a remote-control helicopter for aerial video, a jib for sweeping shots, Steadi-cam for interviews and time-lapse for special effects. Still imagery includes 360 degree, architectural and lifestyle shots, all of which combine to provide extraordinary perspectives and bring the properties to life.
