Boots on The Roof Debuts Unique Solar PV Online Course with Hands-on Solar Labs

Fremont, CA (PRWEB) August 17, 2009

Boots on The Roof’s new Online Solar PV Training course is setting a new benchmark for online renewable energy education. The Photovoltaic Design Foundations class provides engaging online learning with professional audio narration, animation, video and exercises.

The downturn in the economy has prevented many eager students from pursuing their interest in renewable energy, due to high training costs. Boots on The Roof has made it easier to enter the solar field by offering an affordable alternative- The online Solar PV training course. With the pressures of meeting daily professional and personal commitments, many students needed the flexibility to juggle jobs and personal time and complete the training in a self paced environment. The course allows these students to take four to seven weeks to complete the course, and earn a Boots Entry-level Photovoltaic Design certification. The enrollment and class scheduling take just minutes at http://www.bootsontheroof.com. Representatives and live chat can help with any questions or problems. Photovoltaic systems, site evaluation, cells and modules, mechanical integration, system components, battery systems and charge controllers and economic analysis are just some of the key topics included in this comprehensive course.

Navraj Bawa, Executive VP at Boots on the Roof mentioned “We noticed a very real lack of high quality online courses in the solar training market. There are a few courses available, but they felt more like reading a really expensive book, than taking an online course. We were determined to create a course that resembles a classroom experience, and I am happy to say that our team has delivered a fantastic product. We will now be working with universities and colleges throughout the world to bring quality online solar education to the masses”.

Another uniqueness of the course is that Boots on the Roof is the only Solar training provider in the United States that offers an entire solar kit including real solar PV cells, DC motors and a multi-meter for every student enrolled in the Online Solar Training course. Solar energy is a hands-on field, and working with solar cells helps the students to really internalize the concepts.

Bald Eagle Area School District (PA) Selects Rooftop Photovoltaic System from Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance, and Smart Energy Capital

Beachwood, Ohio (PRWEB) May 14, 2010

Benefiting from a $ 1.4 million State of Pennsylvania grant that encourages solar energy projects, the Bald Eagle Area School District has entered into an agreement with Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance (Tremco) and Smart Energy Capital (SEC) on the purchase, installation and long-term use of two rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems. The systems will be installed at Wingate Elementary School and the Bald Eagle Middle/High School. The Bald Eagle Area School District serves 12 communities in the northern portion of Centre County.

Under the terms of the agreement, SEC BESD Solar One LLC, a division of Smart Energy Capital, owns the systems and will sell power to the two schools under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) at a fixed rate per kilowatt hour for 25 years. The district will purchase 100% of the power that the two systems generate; combined, this will provide more than 50% of the schools’ electricity demands. Annually, the middle/high school system will generate approximately 670,000 kWh of solar electricity while the elementary school system will produce about 300,000 kWh. Tremco will install and provide long-term maintenance for the systems. Installation is expected to begin this summer and be completed by the time school begins in the fall. New Tremco roofs were recently installed on the two schools as part of a $ 26 million renovation project.

Tremco Roofing and Smart Energy Capital are partnering to bring rooftop photovoltaic systems and affordable PPAs to customers in education, healthcare, government, commercial and other markets nationwide.

According to Superintendent Dan Fisher, the district will incur no costs to have these systems installed or maintained. Mr. Fisher said, “This is a wonderful opportunity to support the green initiative, reduce energy costs, and provide an educational experience for our students. For example, an internet-based monitoring program will enable our students to see how much power is being generated by the PV systems in real time.”

Ralph Velasquez, director of Tremco Roofing’s Sustainable Technologies Group, said “It’s an honor to be associated with school districts like Bald Eagle Area, which have the vision to embrace technologies that help lower operational costs while improving the environment. We look forward to working with them and their students for a very long time.”

According to SEC Managing Partner Konstantin Braun, “This is an excellent example of how forward-thinking districts, such as Bald Eagle Area, can show both environmental and financial stewardship to the community. The opportunities for education will help students growing up in a world that will place increasing emphasis on managing our resources.”

About Bald Eagle Area School District

The Bald Eagle Area School District is located in the northern portion of Centre County. Formed in 1952, it is the largest, geographically, of the four school districts located entirely in Centre County. The district is composed of 12 communities, encompasses 342.6 square miles and serves a population of almost 13,000 individuals. The district is proud to offer an academically-challenging educational experience that will prepare Bald Eagle Area students for any career they may wish to pursue. In short, the district walks its talk in its guiding slogan, “We Teach for Success.”

Roofing Contractor Enhancing Consumer-Friendly Web Searches

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) August 31, 2011

TBAR, an award winning, full service roofing contractor, announced the launch of an online consumer initiative designed to make searching for services easier and faster than ever.

?We not only do roofs, we can take on windows, siding, gutters and lots of other renovation projects,? said TBAR President Tracy Gibbs. ?Now, consumers who are searching for those services can find them more easily, close to home.

?TBAR, which stands for Texas Building and Roofing, decided to take our Web presence to the next level because it is so easy to get lost in the Internet,? Gibbs added.

TBAR?s Web site has been search engine optimized (SEO), which means people in the market for home improvements, roof leak detection and siding can quickly find the services they need and make more informed choices.

?People who want roof repair, greater energy efficiency or other services usually want to find someone close to home ? someone with a local reputation,? Gibbs said. ?With an optimized Web site, our information will be placed at or near the top of search engine results.?

TBAR recently updated its Web site with more meaningful information, video clips, and links that list its services in detail. That puts more data at consumers? fingertips. For example, it highlights TBAR?s recent Gold Star Award from the Better Business Bureau to offer assurance to potential customers about its service record.

It also outlines the company?s special financing options for home renovation and roof installation, as well as repairs, leak detection and other specialties. This initiative helps homeowners remodel and repair during lean economic times.

?If people do not know we can offer special payment arrangement, they may put off needed repairs that could cost them a lot more money down the road,? Gibbs said. ?A bad roof is also a safety and health issue. So, to us, it is just good customer service to inform people about the options out there.?

TBAR also offers home and commercial energy-saving packages to conserve cooling costs during hot Texas summers. These include Low E windows; insulated roofing systems; commercial cool roofs; and durable, heat-deflecting coatings.

For more than 20 years, TBAR has been providing home and commercial roofing services in the greater Dallas, Ft Worth and Houston areas as well as Abilene, Austin, Denton, Irving, Lewisville and Weatherford.
